Proceeds from lectures fund annual prizes for non-fiction historical writing on British India: The British in India Book Prize and The British in India Military History Book Prize.

The British in India Book Prize 

An annual prize of £1000 for an original work that makes a significant contribution to advancing knowledge or understanding of the British in South Asia and is the author’s first or second sole book publication.

The British in India Book Prize 2025

The British in India Book Prize 2025 rewards excellence in writing about the history of the British in South Asia by first- or second-time authors of books published in 2024. The winning entry will be decided by a panel of three judges. Congratulations to the following authors and publishers whose books have been shortlisted.

The British in India Military History Book Prize

The British in India Prize for Military History rewards excellence in writing about the military history of the British in South Asia up to 1947 by first- or second-time authors of books published in the preceding year. The winner receives £500. The winning entry is decided by a panel of three judges. The British in India Prize for Military History will not be awarded in 2025 due to insufficient entries.
